“For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
It was an interesting flight back home that night. Two business people sat in a nearly empty plane with the empty middle seat separating them. Through their masks they made the casual introductions and soon found they had very similar interests in sports. They spoke for a few moments about their teams and how they were doing this year, but before too long, Tony seized the opportunity to share his personal testimony with his traveling acquaintance named Curtis, who responded, “I always thought I had to work hard, do good, be kind enough and a hundred other things before I had a chance to get to Heaven. I never heard those verses. Say them again to me, Tony.” “I will be glad to. According to Ephesians 2:8-9, ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast,’” Tony shared. What an amazing flight it was because of God’s grace orchestrating this conversation.
For today: I am surely thankful that salvation is not by my good works. I’d never make it. I’m so glad that it is by grace and God’s gift. Do you know Christ as your Savior? If not, please go to my website www.michaelpeck.org and click “Heaven.”
