Volume 4 Number 30 “What Karen Thought of Her Problems!”
July 28, 2021
Most of the notes in Karen’s Bible study journal are filed neatly, placed in order, carefully thought through and are characterized by her organizational skills. There is, however, a very small piece of paper on which she was doodling. Obviously that day she was reading through Psalm 37. I honestly do not know if she was preparing for a ladies’ retreat or if this was just some thoughts for herself. I’m excited to share with you what she wrote.
Here is the text she was beginning to study through. “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:3-5).
This little yellow piece of paper is a treasure (not an idol, but a treasure!) In her own handwriting she jotted a few brief notes, drew some pictures as she doodled, and starred some things she wanted to emphasize. Today’s final posting from this little paper is the asterisks she drew and the words in red ink that she wrote relating to problems.
Karen wrote:
1. Trusting (v.3). I believe God can answer my problems.
2. Delighting (v.4). I believe God will answer my problems.
3. Committing (v.5). I bring my problems to Him.
4. Resting and waiting patiently for Him (v.7). I leave my problems with Him.
Michael’s observations: God’s Word is so powerful and practical. It is so profound that it is so simple and so simple that it is profound. How powerful and life-changing God’s Word is! These are the four things that I need to do regularly and consistently. How about you?
