An Update on Karen’s MRI and HIDA Scans
“A Prayer Request and Note of Praise” October 4th, 2016
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now…Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart” (Philippians 1:3-7).
This must be how Paul felt about the folks who were dear to him, who loved him, and who prayed earnestly for him. Everyone has been so kind to us. How do we begin to thank you for your faithfulness in praying for Karen? This has been a long and difficult journey. She has such trouble eating anything. No wonder she has lost thirty pounds. As you may remember, her oncologist ordered an MRI on her liver and upper abdomen. The primary care physician ordered a HIDA scan on her gallbladder.
We received a personal phone call from our primary care physician who was very excited to tell us that the MRI contained good news. There has been no metastasis of the cancer in her upper abdomen. We agree with our doctor who indicated that this is very good news. As to the HIDA scan, it actually was good news as well. How many times have you ever encountered a person praying for gallbladder disease? Well that is another uniqueness that Michael and Karen bring into your lives. As Karen has been experiencing trouble eating, everything making her sick, such pain in her stomach which is radiating to the right side, we all have been very concerned for her and know that gallbladder would be the better choice of which to be dealing. Well guess what? The HIDA scan demonstrated that her gallbladder is defective! We are not guaranteeing that she will have surgery (we think she will); but we are being referred to a surgeon. We don’t have that date as yet; but will let you know as soon as we know anything further.
For now we just want to thank you and ask you to continue to uphold Karen in your prayers. There are so many dear folks all around us that are going through such difficult situations right now. We greatly value your prayers, friendship, and love. You are very special to the Lord and to us as well. I am speaking tomorrow night at First Baptist Church of Elyria in the prayer meeting. For the last several weeks I have been preaching on the subject of what to do when feeling overwhelmed. Now I want us to remember that we can rejoice because we are overcomers. The amazing thing is that we will have episodes of feeling overwhelmed; but always must remember that we are overcomers in the “moment” that we are here (2 Corinthians 4: 17). May the Lord greatly bless you and your “moment.”
