A grand day is coming for the believer!
The Old Testament prophet Isaiah saw the time coming when the Messiah will rule upon the earth and in that day, His people will experience joy beyond description. I love how Isaiah described what sorrow and mourning will do. They will flee away!
“Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isaiah 51:11).
I am aware of many right now who are going through very difficult times. While the glorious truth of this text might not automatically change your situation right now, it will provide the assurance that sorrow is not forever. It will demonstrate that mourning will not be an eternal situation. For me, there is great comfort knowing that pain, sadness, and sorrow are all very temporary. Singing, joy, and gladness will be part of our “forever” with the Lord.
For today: The Lord Himself brings joy and assures us that the eternity of joy is ahead for the believer.
