“I have remembered Thy name, O LORD, in the night” (Psalm 119:55).
Everyone knows that Psalm 119 is the longest Psalm in the collection. But sometimes I fear that we tend to shy away from reading it because of its length. If that is the case, we miss many practical and powerful reminders. The writer speaks of remembering God’s name in the night. When the Scriptures speak of God’s name, it represents everything about Him. So the next time you have trouble sleeping, rather than counting sheep, think about our awesome God and talk with Him. Think of the times He has been merciful, gracious, and kind to you. Think of His awesome power and authority. Think of His incredible gift of salvation and how He’s provided your every need. Then thank Him for the way He’s made you and for the gift of sleep (to which you probably will soon return!)
The next time you can’t sleep: Awake in the night? Spend some great time with your awesome Lord!
