“Teach me to do Thy will; for Thou art my God: Thy Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness” (Psalm 143:10).
Ruth, Ellen, and Marianna sat around the old homestead’s kitchen table. It had been three years since their mom went Home to be with the Lord. Now their dad was Home as well. The three sisters knew there was much sorting to be done. But for the moment, with a hot cup of tea, the three sisters pulled the old dilapidated Betty Crocker Cookbook out of the drawer and leafed through it together. What a wonderful discovery they made! Every time mom and dad entertained missionaries or folks from church, mom would pencil their names beside the dish and recipe. At one of the recipes for stew she wrote, “Pastor’s favorite. Dad and I enjoyed talking with him. I want to do your will, Lord.” At this the sisters cried and Ruth led them in prayer that they too would want to do His will.” How about you? Have you left anything for your children to find that will bless their lives?
For today: By my life and my words may the Lord Jesus be glorified while I am here and then afterward when I am Home!
