“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15).
We seem to be living in a time when some who claim to be Christian are enjoying things that believers a few years ago would never think of doing. Danielle was talking to her college age daughter, Susanna, about the joy of following Christ. Her daughter replied, “I just don’t get it, Mom. People today claim to be Christians and yet they drink, go to clubs, talk with language that is foul and vulgar and seem to think nothing of it.” After a moment, Susanna continued, “I suppose some would think I am legalistic. But God’s Word simply says, ‘Love not the world,’ and that’s clear enough for me.” Later that day Danielle thanked the Lord again for her daughter and the convictions she had developed. How about you? How does this verse affect your life today?
For today: We are in the world for evangelism but not of the world for participation!
