“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).
Marcus was in turmoil. In all honesty, his life had experienced several back-to-back episodes of heartache and setbacks. His girlfriend had broken up with him. Then he lost his job. Then his car was stolen. I want to tell you, Marcus was a wreck. He frantically poured out his present story to anyone and everyone who would listen. Under great duress he asked, “So what should I do?” Everyone gave him a slightly different opinion. Then he met Ron who was so very different. Right in the middle of another rerun of the life and turmoil of Marcus, Ron stopped him. “Whoa, my friend, whoa. I can’t keep up with you. But I can tell you this. More than anything in the world, you need to slow down, quiet down, and settle down with God. Have you talked with Him? Have you learned to be quiet before Him and know that He is God?” he asked. It was the beginning of change in the life of Marcus. No one had directed him back to God until he met Ron.
For today: While I am not saying that you can’t talk to others about your problems, first, you must be still and know that He is God. Read His Word. Be very quiet and listen to the Lord.
