“And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the Word of the LORD; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. And the Word of the Lord was published throughout all the region” (Acts 13:48-49).
Paul and Barnabas were courageous in their preaching and sharing the Word of the Lord. Right before the very eyes of the Apostles awesome results were taking place. Some of the Jewish people responded to the message with open hostility. On the other hand, some of the Gentiles gladly responded to it and believed the Word of the Lord. It reminds me of two men and their ministry. Eric and Kevin went to the City Mission every other Tuesday night for chapel services. During the service on a particular Tuesday evening, several of the men moaned out loud, several others laughed at the speaker, one got up and walked out of the chapel service, and many others appeared totally disinterested. However, those were not the only responses! That night a young man came after the last hymn and said, “I just didn’t have the courage to come during the invitation. But I truly believe that I am a sinner, and I believe what you said about the Lord. Can I ask Him right now to be my Savior?” Needless to say, the men may have had just a tiny inclination as to how Paul and Barnabas must have felt! While many reject the gospel, God still saves those who trust in Him.
For today: If you know Christ, be faithful in your ministry of sharing Christ. Watch what the Lord will do through you!
