“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
The sunset was spectacular as it shown through the massive windshield of Gary’s nearly 400,000 pound locomotive on the thirty-seven freight car train that he would be driving through the Midwest. His conductor had not yet climbed on board in the cab, and he had a few more minutes to think of the Bible reading he had enjoyed earlier in the day. The sky splashed brilliant colors across the sky. He said right out loud, “Oh Lord, I soon will be driving, but right now I am just so glad to be quiet and know that you are God.” It was a great five or ten minutes of continuing to focus on the Lord before the conductor climbed on board and started talking. What will be the opportunities that you will have today of stopping, being quiet and knowing that He is God?”
For today: Lord, help me to slow down and not focus only on my problems. Help me to keep You in focus and stop regularly to “know that You are God.”
