“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
“Well, Preacher,” old Gus said with a grin, “it’s just as you said! Now that I know the Lord as my Savior, something is happening to me. Things I used to enjoy I just don’t enjoy any more. Places I used to go don’t pull me in. I remember the day you showed me from the Bible how to know the Lord,” Gus continued as he shook his head. “After I trusted Christ alone, you said that I could expect to see a change. I surely am far from perfect, but Christ is changing me. My wife told me that she likes this new man of hers. Why, Preacher, I think even the family dog likes me better!” Gus said laughingly. Just then the conversation shifted as several other men approached Gus and his pastor. A few hours later, Pastor Kenward was thinking of the conversation. “Even the family dog likes him better.” That’s was Paul meant about being in Christ and seeing the changes He brings.
For today: Being a Christian is not about being perfect. That will come when we are home in Heaven with the Lord. Being a Christian is all about belonging to the Lord and being changed by His power. Do you know Him? Are you being changed?
