“Praise the LORD of Hosts; for the LORD is good: for His mercy endures for ever” (Jeremiah 33:11).
The Book of Jeremiah bears the name of the Old Testament Prophet who with great conviction and power proclaimed the Word of the LORD to people who for the most part refused to listen. Thankfully the size of the response does not determine the extent of the success of ministry. My heart is moved as I read the pages of this major Prophet. It is packed with principles and practical applications that both stretch me and bless my heart. In the passage today, which is best known for, “Call unto Me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (33:3), there is another powerful blessing. Jeremiah is in prison (33:1), and yet he writes of the Lord’s goodness and mercy (33:11). Whatever you are facing today, please remember that the Lord is good. He is good all the time. He is worthy of our praise. Be thankful for His mercy. Take it from Jeremiah. We belong to the Lord Most Awesome.
For today: Don’t deny your circumstance and pretend that it doesn’t exist. Rather, in your circumstances praise the Lord for Who He is and what He is doing.
