“And He said unto them, ‘These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms concerning me’” (Luke 24:44).
It was a blessed time at that country church. Several folks had recently asked the Lord Jesus to be their Savior. Pastor McHenry was having a special class for those new converts. During the time that he taught the class about Christ, several of the members were amazed to learn that the Lord Jesus is spoken of throughout the Scriptures. They discovered that He is pictured in the Law of Moses. He is promised throughout the Prophets. He is proclaimed in the Psalms. Ruth, one of the newest converts in the class, turned to Laurie and said, “I knew that the Lord Jesus is incredible. But I had no idea that He is to be found throughout the entire Bible. It takes on a whole new meaning. I’m going to be watching for Him whenever I read the Old Testament.” The pastor assured her, as well as the rest of the class, that they would learn much more about the Lord Jesus. In fact Pastor McHenry closed the class with this thought, “The more you read the Scriptures, the more you will get to know the Lord Jesus. The more that you know about the Lord Jesus, the more you will love Him.” The wise counsel given to the class that day is great counsel for you and me today. The more we know about our precious Savior, the greater our love and admiration will be for Him.
For today: Are you reading in the Old Testament? Be watching for the Lord Jesus in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms!
