“But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge” (Psalm 94:22).

Mario had to dismiss a staff member.  It was one of the most difficult days in his life.  He had discovered that a trusted staffer was not only shirking his responsibilities, he was also promoting disunity in the company by spreading innuendos and outright lies about Mario.  Repeatedly he tried to help this staffer understand his expectations and standards. Patiently Mario tried to work with the employee.  He went way beyond what most employers would do.  The day came when Mario had to dismiss the disgruntled employee.  Life became miserable for Mario at this point.  Horrible accusations were hurled at Mario to the point where he called for an all-staff meeting.  After addressing the situation briefly, Mario assured the staff of his love and appreciation.  After they were dismissed to return to work, Ted came to Mario and said something he never forgot.  “Mario, you have answered the accusations.  Now leave the rest to the Lord.  He will be your defence, rock, and refuge according to Psalm 94:22.  Let God be the One Who will vindicate you.”  With that Ted left the meeting.  Mario never forgot that encouragement.  Within the year, God indeed proved Mario to be vindicated of the false accusations.  It was a rather spectacular thing to see.
