“Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold…but with the precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:18-19).
I have always wondered if Peter thought back to that special day when he wrote these words. Which special day? You’ll find it recorded in Acts 3. Peter and John were going into the temple when they discovered a man with a severe physical need begging at the gate called Beautiful. Hoping for a donation, perhaps the poor man was disappointed when Peter told him, “Silver and gold have I none.” But before the disappointment could build any further, Peter went on to say, “But such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, with them into the temple, walking and leaping, and praising God” (Acts 3:6-8). There are some things that money just cannot buy. Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood as well as the blessing of God are among those things that silver and gold just cannot obtain. Aren’t you glad that Christ alone has purchased your redemption? Do you know Him? If you have questions, please contact me. Check out the EBook “Heaven” at my website www.michaelpeck.org. More about this tomorrow.
For today: Silver and gold cannot atonement make. Christ’s blood was shed for our sake. He’s the risen Savior and the only way to Heaven. Give Him thanks today.
