“But walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor” (Ephesians 5:2).
We’ve been thinking about Carrie, Lance, and Tom. None of them knew each other. None of them lived near each other. But all three read this great verse of Scripture. Carrie showed Christ’s love in a fender bender a young driver had with her. Lance showed Christ’s love by insisting that a lady take his seat on the rapid transit. These were very real and good ways. But then there was Tom. His demonstration of Christ’s love was huge. Without him knowing about, a co-worker didn’t like him. Tom was never aggressive in his witness. He was never pushy. He was never rude. However, it was easy to tell that he loved the Lord. This co-worker started spreading lies about him. She accused him of being inappropriate and even flirtatious. None of the accusations and innuendos were true. Tom’s workplace was small and had no Human Resource department. When Tom discovered the accusations, he was crushed. Fortunately his fellow workers vouched for him and his boss believed him. Tom was called into the office where his supervisor joined the boss and the co-worker who made the accusation. You could cut the tension in the air with a butter knife. Mr. T. began the meeting with, “Tom, I’ve brought you in today along with your supervisor to let you know that I have no idea how to handle this right. Sue has made accusations, and I just need to get this out in the open.” You won’t believe what happened in that meeting. I’ll share with you tomorrow.
For today: Be watching for ways, big or little, to demonstrate the love of Christ to others.
