“My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons” (James 2:1).
Listen to how the NKJV puts it, “My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.” Several folks in the congregation were really sorry that Brad had told the pastor that the president of Williams and Son Construction was visiting that morning. It was rather embarrassing that the pastor snuck out of the pre-service prayer meeting to walk right up to where the very wealthy businessman was seated. It almost was awkward how long he shook the visitor’s hand. Several seated nearby took note that the pastor overlooked the several visitors seated near the businessman. It disappointed them that their own pastor would be so partial to the wealthy visitor. May it never be said of us that our treatment of people depends on the potential of return!
For today: May the poor and wealthy be welcomed into our lives and worship centers.
