“Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you” (1John 3:13).

I can’t believe it sometimes. We believers know that marriage is one man and one woman entering into a lifelong covenant with each other. God’s Word clearly teaches that this is His plan for marriage. Like everything else man has tampered with, marriage sees the sad effects of what happens when we do not follow God’s instructions. For this conviction we believers are called terrible names. We are said to be hateful, and more and more being painted as terrorists. Can you believe it? But friends, let me remind you that the world has always hated Christians. While our leaders at times nearly bend over backwards to accommodate the various religions of the world, Christians are often met with scorn and ridicule. Know why? It’s because they hate our Lord! We belong to the one and only awesome Lord and Master of all. But because He is hated, so are we.

For today: Though I will seek to live godly and graciously, I better not be surprised if the world dislikes and even hates me. The same is true for you as well, dear friend.
