“That He may incline our hearts unto Him, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments” (1 Kings 8:58).
Solomon the king is leading the prayer of dedication at the dedication of the temple. It was a grand day in the history of the children of Israel. The LORD God glorified Himself and demonstrated the importance of following Him. It was a lesson that the children of Israel seemed to find difficult to consistently apply. But wait a minute! Let me read the verse again. Does that sound like something I need today as well? It surely does. May my walk with the Lord be the outgrowth of my heart being turned or inclined unto Him. I want to walk with Him by lovingly desiring to obey His commandments. How about you?
For today: Lord, help us to walk with you today. Keep us from straying or running ahead. We want to live in sweet fellowship with You today.
