“It is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Thy works” (Psalm 73:28).
Asaph was very honest in sharing his earlier confusion. Previously he didn’t understand why the wicked had it so good and why he, along with others who were righteous, simply had a very difficult time. He couldn’t understand why this was so. Then he went into the sanctuary of God (73:17). He drew near to the Lord and learned to look at people and situations through the grid of eternity. Regardless of how things appeared to be, he declared that it was good for him to draw near to the Lord God. What a remarkable thing for an Old Testament believer to say. How much more should we who live in the New Testament era, with all of our many blessings, draw near to the Lord and trust Him?
For today: I want to draw closer to the Lord. I can do this through reading His Word and investing time in prayer with Him throughout my day.
