“The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth” (Psalm 145:17-18).
Mackenzie was troubled. She was sure that her husband would get the promotion that she knew he deserved. But instead of the promotion, he actually lost his job. The company had to cut back, and yet several of his co-workers retained their positions and one was actually promoted. She was furious. How could God allow this to happen? She fussed. She fumed. Several days later she was venting to her mom when two-year old Jordan threw a temper tantrum because Mommy wouldn’t let him have a cookie right then. He was told that in ten minutes it would be time to go with Mommy and Grandma for lunch, but he still threw himself on the floor and kicked his little feet. After Mackenzie addressed the situation with Jordan and corrected him, the threesome pulled out the driveway and started on their way to lunch. Mackenzie’s mom quietly spoke to her daughter. “Honey, we are all disappointed and hurt with the way your dear husband has been treated by his former employer. But we need to be careful to remember something. You said ‘no’ to Jordie. He really didn’t understand, did he? In fact, he was pretty upset because you said ‘no.’ But you knew best, and the way you directed his little life was really for his ultimate good, even though at the time he didn’t think so. I think the time will come when you will see that the LORD is right in all His ways, even when we don’t understand.” What a break through moment for Mackenzie. How about you? How does this affect your life today?
For today: I want to trust the Lord in greater ways, especially when I don’t understand at the moment what He is doing and what He has allowed. How about you?
