“I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes; I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me” (Psalm 101:3).
Pastor Kenward ended the call without saying, “Good-bye,” because Craig had already ended the call. “I’m not sure what’s up, Honey,” the pastor said to his wife, “but Craig said it couldn’t wait until morning and would I meet him for ten minutes in my office. Craig’s voice sounded extremely upset. Guess I better get over to the office. Apparently, I’ll be back soon.” About fifteen minutes later, Craig walked into the office and handed the pastor his laptop, his IPAD, and even his cell phone. “Pastor, I need help. Not tonight. But soon, I need lots of help. I’ve been viewing things that I ought never to have viewed. I’ve tried to stop on my own, and I don’t seem willing to break it off by myself. I need help. For now, I am bringing all my devices to you to hang onto for me. This morning I read about setting no wicked thing before my eyes, and believe me, I’ve looked at plenty of wicked things.” With that he collapsed weeping in the arms of his pastor. This would be the first steps for Craig toward victory. It was a powerful ten minute meeting that night.
For today: “No wicked thing before my eyes” ought to be the affirmation of each of us.
