“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me” (Isaiah 46:9).
You remember Ron from the last two days. Getting into Mike’s car on I-25 near Colorado Springs, Ron said, “I surely appreciate you stopping and helping me.” Pulling out and onto the Interstate, Mike confessed, “Well, I do see a fair amount of breakdowns along this stretch of highway. I usually call the Troopers and seldom stop. It’s too dangerous. But today I sensed the Lord was going to have someone waiting for me. Divine appointment, I like to call it. When I saw your four-way flashers, I knew you were the one. I see from your state plates that you must be from over a thousand miles away from home. What’s brought you all the way out to my neighborhood?” Mike asked. Ron looked down. He suddenly could not keep the tears from flowing down his cheeks. He tried hard not to cry, but it was to no avail. “I’ve been running from God and my parents,” Ron confessed. Mike quickly replied, “I thought your name was Ron. Now I find out that it is Jonah, and I’m going to have to throw you overboard, right out the window in the passing lane of the Interstate.” For the first time in a long time, Ron smiled. Then he laughed. “Man, it’s like I don’t even know you, but here I am wanting to tell you everything,” Ron said quietly. After sharing the entire story about wanting his girlfriend to move in with him into his parents’ home, being told “No” and leaving home in anger, Ron knew that this was a Divine appointment. Mike quietly said to him, “Ron, you cannot run away from the Lord. His Word says, ‘I am God, and there is none like Me.’” As they pulled into the dealership, Mike continued, “Your car may need a new engine. But even more important, you need a new heart, Ron. He is God. There is no one else like Him, and I would like to show you how you can have a personal relationship with Him and a restored relationship with your parents.” Three days later, a humbled and repentant Ron was boarding his flight to go home. The story isn’t over. Check in tomorrow and perhaps consider inviting a friend to join you as well. Mike and Ron’s parents together were so glad that Ron could never outsmart, outmaneuver, or outrun the Lord.
For today: Are you walking with the Lord? Don’t you wish everyone did?
