“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Jayson came home nearly two hours after curfew.  The house was dark and gave the appearance that everyone had gone to bed and that he probably got away with directly disobeying his parents.  As he tip-toed through the dining room on the way to the steps, his father spoke to him and scared him half to death.  After a long discussion and Jayson saying for the third time, “I can’t help it. It’s not my fault,” Dad took him to the verse we read today.  Dad gave his son a stern lecture, a good amount of discipline and a full explanation that no one can say, “I can’t help it. It’s not my fault.”  There is no temptation we face but what is common to everyone else.  God is faithful and has provided the means for us to have victory over sin.  With that, Jayson and Dad headed to their rooms for bed.  Dad would leave early in the morning, and wait until you see what happens to Dad.  I’ll tell you about it tomorrow.

For today:  When you are tempted, you must pray to the Lord immediately.  He always has a way out of it before the temptation gets you.
