“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away” (Proverbs 4:14-15).
“Grandpa,” seventeen-year-old Raphael said thoughtfully, “if you could give me just one piece of advice that you have learned, what would it be?” Raphael and his grandfather had been in one of those wonderful and personal conversations between a very elderly man and his very young grandson. Grandpa replied immediately, “I know what it would be, Raphael. It would be to take sin seriously and stay as far away from it as possible. People will call you a legalist. They will laugh at you and maybe even mock you. But I can tell you that it seems to me that some folks today are coming as close to living like the world of sin as possible instead of living as far from it as possible.” What great advice he gave to his grandson.
For today: Instead of flirting with sin, let’s forsake it.
