“…Thou art God in Israel and that I am Thy servant” (1 Kings 18:36).

Elijah got it! He knew the LORD was God. Next he knew that his role was servant. When we have figured out who the Lord is and what place He is to hold in our lives, then it is easy to figure out who we are. He is God. We are not. He is the Lord, and we have the joy of being His servant!

For today: Rest in the knowledge that He is God, and you are not!

“I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus” (Acts20:24).

There is a huge difference between quitting and finishing. The world has many who quit when times get rough. May we be ones who are finishers. God has a plan for your life. Ask Him for grace to finish what He has laid out before you to do.

For today: By the grace of God you can be a finisher. There is a joy that comes in finishing and completing what God has planned for you.

“Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm” (Luke 8:24).

Perhaps it feels like you are in the boat in the middle of the Sea of Galilee in the middle of the storm. The winds are howling, and the waves are raging. The peril is great, and it feels like you may not survive this storm. Please remember the One who scolds the storm and brings calm once again.
Possibly the Lord will not take your storm away; but He will bring you through it and give you calmness.

For today: Remember that the One who calms the storm holds you close in His hands. What a great place to be!

“I will come again, and receive you unto myself that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3).

Of all the promises ever given, this is one of the greatest for sure. It is the promise that Christ will receive us unto Himself and that we will be with Him for ever. Imagine the glory of that day when we meet the Lord. This is made possible for those who trust Him based on His work on the cross and resurrection on our behalf.

For today: Live today as one who is looking forward to meeting the beloved Lord Jesus! It will make all the difference in the world!

“I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation” (Habakkuk 3:18).

There is a huge difference between happiness and joy. For happiness to occur, things must go your way. Joy is very different. Joy depends on a relationship with the Lord Jesus. This joy is an inner gladness and peace because it is based upon Him.

For today: You can have joy if you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior. It is entirely possible that you may have times of not being happy today, but you still can have joy!
