“Christ the Lord Is Risen”

1. It was such a painful picture – see the Lord hung on the cross.
Darkness veiled the skies above Him, suffered He such awful loss!
Paid the price of our transgressions, now God’s wrath was satisfied.
So amazing is our Savior, “It is finished!” Jesus cried.

2. It was for my sin He suffered on the cross of Calvary.
He was cut off from His Father, bearing oh such agony!
In the temple (so amazing!) how the veil was torn that day
From the top down to the bottom, Christ has opened now the way.

3. From the cross His body taken, buried in a nearby tomb.
His disciples bore such sorrow, how their lives were filled with gloom.
Then on Sunday morning early, in the midst of all their tears,
Met by angels with the message (such great news calmed all their fears.)

4. “He’s alive! Yes, He has risen! He arose just as He said.”
Go and tell His dear disciples, Christ has risen from the dead.
‘Tis the power of God Almighty, shout the news of victory!
We will live with Him forever! Oh, what joy eternally!

“And He took the cup, and when he had given thanks, He gave it to them and they all drank of it” (Mark 14:23).

It was the night before the Lord Jesus went to Calvary to become the substitutionary sacrifice for us. When He held the cup, He knew that ultimately this picture would be accomplished the next day as He took our place, bore our sin, and had placed upon Himself our shame. Yet, notice that when the Savior took the cup, He gave thanks. Sometimes thanksgiving is sacrificial. It doesn’t readily appear that a spirit of thankfulness fits in the current picture. If the Savior gave thanks while holding in His hands the picture of the kind of death He would face the next day, what kind of spirit of thanksgiving must I exhibit today? I am really challenged by this. How about you?

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

The railroad engine was massive, weighing nearly 200 tons. Sam was at the control of the lead engine as it and the other two engines pulled ninety-seven freight cars on the trip. As he approached the large intersection in the middle of the town, many warning signs announced his approach. The red lights started flashing as the warning bells began to sound. The large gates with flashing red lights slowly lowered. Sam blew the incredibly loud air horns with the appropriate sounding. Two long, one short, and one long blast of the air horn warned people of the train’s approach. Everyone stopped except the young motorcyclist. He darted around the stopped cars and made his way past the lowered gate and flew across the track just seconds before the train sped through town. Sam screamed in horror as he narrowly missed the young man who defied all the warnings. It reminds me today of how many are defying the clear warning that there is only ONE way of salvation and only ONE Savior. I know it isn’t popular in this day of being inclusive to believe and proclaim that the Lord Jesus is the only way to the Father and Heaven. However! That is just what the clear warning of Scripture says.

“Then Everything Changed!”

If Christ had not risen, everything would have been in vain. Paul said, “IF Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. Yea, we are found false witnesses of God” (1 Corinthians 15:14-15). But everything changed when Christ arose. “But now is Christ risen from the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:20). Those great words change everything. “But now…” Christ is risen. He’s risen indeed. He’s alive!

“Our Great Lord”

His ability is staggering (Matthew 14:14-21).
His teaching is powerful (Luke 12:13-21).
His exaltation is awesome (Matthew 17:1-8).
His beauty is incredible (Revelation 1:10-18).
His majesty is indescribable (Revelation 19:11-16).
Aren’t you glad that you belong to such an awesome Lord?
