“Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men” (Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, 31).

Four times the Psalmist cries out that we should praise the Lord for His goodness. God’s works extended to mankind are wonderful. The Lord is incredibly wonderful in everything He does. He is worthy of our praise.

For today: Be on the alert for the wonderful works of the Lord. Give Him thanks today for who He is as well as for what He does!

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”         (2 Timothy 4:7).

Paul spoke about finishing well. Throughout his life, he faced many hardships, trials, disappointments, and sorrow. Even as he wrote, Paul was imprisoned awaiting execution. As you read Paul’s writings, through all his difficulties, he had one great desire. He wanted to finish well. Someday when we near the end of our lives here on earth, we want to be able to say the same things Paul said of his fight, course, and faith.

For today: Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Begin right now to live in such a way as to finish well.

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; Who gave Himself for us” (Titus 2:13-14).

Believers should live daily with the wonderful joy of remembering that Jesus gave Himself for us. This same Jesus is coming for us. We live with the very real possibility that today the Rapture of the church may take place. Imagine what it will be like? Suddenly, quicker than we can imagine, the Lord will meet us in the air, and we shall be with Him forever.

For today: It is not nearly so much that we want to disappear from our troubles as it is that we long to see the Lord Jesus appear in His glory!

“For the love of money is the root of all evil”            (1 Timothy 6:10).

Often people say that “money is the root of all evil.” This is not what the Bible says. Timothy was reminded by the wise Apostle Paul that “the love of money is the root of all evil.” Everyone needs income. We appreciate the funds we have. However, when we begin to love money, the road will soon become very dangerous.

For today: Ask the Lord to help you to keep your priorities right. We love people and use money. We must never love money and use people!

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Has there been a time in your life that you have told God of your sinfulness, and that you are placing your complete trust in Christ’s death, the shedding of His blood and His resurrection for your salvation? Paul reminds us that our salvation does not depend on our good works. It is only through faith in His grace and gift!

For today: Nothing could be more important than for you to be absolutely sure that you know the Lord Jesus as your Savior. Have you accepted His gift?
