The Gathering Place Where Family Matters

Many of the dear folks who faithfully stop by every Wednesday for “Karen’s Notes” are going through difficult times. I am excited to share some thoughts directly from a two-day retreat that Karen taught. I have the great blessing of seeing the typed notes as well as my Karen’s handwritten notes. My sister Kim was telling me about an illustration she used with the boys and girls in her Sunday school class. She was teaching them about their words. To illustrate this she gave them little tubes of toothpaste and allowed them to squeeze the contents onto their papers. Then she gave them toothpicks and told them to put the toothpaste back into the container. Obviously they couldn’t do it. It is the same with our words. We really can’t take them back, can we? “Karen’s Notes” speak of this today. Thanks for stopping by.

I have come across a workshop that Karen presented many years ago. Somehow these conference notes were placed in a different spot from where Karen typically kept her notes. I suspect she pulled these out to use in conversation in a one-to-one counseling appointment. I’m glad I found these notes to use on this Wednesday before Christmas.
