Very recently I ran across this once again in her Bible. I cried. But they were not only tears of grief but also tears of joy and praise to the Lord. Here are the verses and what she wrote.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear…” (Psalm 46:1-2).
The Christian life is not adhering to a lengthy list of don’t do this and don’t do that. It is, rather, embracing by faith the Lord Jesus Who is the love of our lives and seeking to please Him
Her cup of coffee, opened Bible and study journal are very clear in my memory. Thank you for the privilege of sharing some from one of her entries and smile with me as I teased Karen about her coffee!
Through a very rough period of time in her life, Karen wrote with conviction and purpose. As she grew sicker and sicker, her writing became less and less. Come with me to a very powerful and pointed two sentences Karen managed to write. Think of His Word with me, won’t you?
In 2008 on April 25th and 26th Karen spoke at the ladies’ retreat of the First Baptist Church of Lagrange, Ohio. I believe she used as an illustration something we had talked about and I often used in my preaching. I’m eager to share this with you.
