“Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee” (Isaiah 12:6).
Isaiah lived and served the Lord in times that frankly were both horrible and wonderful. Before you worry that I have lost my mind, let me explain. The times were horrible. Corruption, wickedness, apostasy, and rejection of the Lord God produced a growing darkness. But it was a wonderful time as well. God was at work, and His purposes were being fulfilled. Even when things seemed out of control, the people were reminded that the Holy One was in the midst of them. Never forget, friends, that our awesome God is sovereign. He’s holy. He’s in our midst (even closer to the New Testament believer; He’s in us!) and He’s working out His plan.
As I listen to the news of society plunging into deeper darkness, I am determining to remember that our God is sovereign and I choose to trust Him. How about you?
