“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call His name JESUS. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:31; Matthew 1:18).
In the time of Mary and Joseph, the papa of the groom made the arrangements with the papa of the bride. The engagement was settled and in strict purity the couple knew that they were reserved for each other. Neither could conceive of betraying the trust of their beloved fiancé. Everything about the incarnation is miraculous and significant. The teenage Jewish girl and the righteous Jewish young man were selected in the plan of the Lord for the event that would change their lives (and ours as well). It would not be an easy assignment. For Mary to be pregnant before the formal wedding to Joseph would be unthinkable. For Joseph to take the pregnant Mary to be his wife in those times would also be unthinkable. But God had an incredible plan. Mary and Joseph had an incredible faith that accepted such an incredible plan. So may I ask you a personal question? What is the Lord doing in your life that you don’t totally understand at the moment? Be assured that you can trust Him. Really! You can trust Him.
For today: God’s plan for Mary and Joseph wasn’t easy. But think of what they would have missed if they had resisted God’s plan. Trust Him today with all of your plans!
