“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children” (Proverbs 13:22).

I shared with you yesterday that the entire family gathered at Uncle Charlie’s because he and Uncle Martin knew how Grandpa had prepared his will. It would be a great blessing for the entire family. Grandpa loved the Lord and had lived a consistent Godly life. Now after his home going, not only would the will impact Grandpa’s children, but it would be directed especially to his grandchildren. It was a lengthy will because Grandfather loved long conversations. The last few lines were especially powerful. He closed his will by stating, “The Bible says that a good man leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren. You can see that there are some finances, but not a lot. The best thing that I can leave to you is that your Grandmother and I taught your parents the way of the Lord. They seem to be following the Lord at the time this is being written. But I am concerned about some of you. If you are a Christian, your actions do not point to this. Grandmother and I so want you to be with us in Heaven that I want to remind you that there is only one way for salvation, and that is through Christ (John 14:6), and it is by accepting His gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). I love each of you and will be looking forward to our grand reunion (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).” Uncle Charlie put the will down and had a tender but pointed conversation with the family.  What an inheritance Grandfather left. How about you? What are you leaving your children and grandchildren?

For today: A Godly and gracious life consistently lived provides a wonderful blessing to all.
