“She brought forth her first born son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn” (Luke 2:7).

Uncle Jim read the Scripture from the Gospel of Luke that told of the birth of the Savior. Everyone had gathered, and before any of the presents were opened each year, the family members would take turns reading the passage, and often someone would make a few comments. Then someone else would lead in prayer. Four-year-old Julia sat very still on her daddy’s lap as she quietly listened to Uncle Jim reading. When he came to the part where he read, “because there was no room for them in the inn,” she interrupted by turning to her mommy and saying, “We would have made room, wouldn’t we, Mommy? They could have had my room.” There were more than a few smiles, but what a great spiritual lesson sank into this family that day. There must always be more than just a room for the Lord Jesus. He must have the preeminent place in our lives and homes.

For today: Merry Christmas, dear friends. Karen and I wish you and your family a Blessed Incarnation Day. May the Lord richly bless you as you continue to walk with the Lord!
