“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest…” (Luke 2:13-14a)
I want us to focus on one phrase of the angelic announcement. It is the statement that says, “Glory to God in the highest.” This is a powerful statement of the highest praise ascending to the highest Person in all of creation. The angelic praise in the presence of the shepherds gripped their hearts. Immediately they left the field to make their way to Bethlehem. After visiting the Christ-child they returned to the fields, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had seen (Luke 2:20). Think of the lesson for us. We who are redeemed are to be existing for the praise and glory of the Lord (1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 1:6). What a challenge set before us today.
For today: Please help us, Lord, to count it great joy to live in a way that will honor and glorify You.
