“And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior” (Luke 1:46-47).
How profound that Mary traveled to the home of Zacharias and Elisabeth (1:40) with the news that Gabriel had brought to her. Isn’t it interesting that the first person who recognized the presence of the promised Messiah was the unborn baby, John the Baptist? Mary was thrilled with the awesome privilege of being the Lord’s servant. I am thinking especially of her words, “God my Savior” (1:47). Realizing Who God is and what position He held in her life, think of what Mary shared next, “For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden” (1:48a). This principle is great for us today as well. When we understand Who He is, we then understand who we are. Thanks, Mary, for this great lesson for us.
For today: He is God our Savior. We are His servants who, because of His grace, are greatly blessed.
