“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down, and worshipped Him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts: gold, and frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11).
What a majestic scene unfolds before us. Though I have heard this message from my youngest years (many years ago now!), I never tire of hearing of these very wise, learned, wealthy, prominent leaders who traveled from afar on one of the greatest missions that could ever be known to man. They came to worship. As smart, powerful, and wealthy as they were, when standing in the presence of true Royalty, they collapsed, literally fell down, and worshipped. Thirty years ago I remember hearing “old timers” expressing their concerns about situations. Now I am one! But may I share a concern that I have? I am greatly concerned that there seems to be very little fear of God in the hearts of people today. The older I grow, the deeper my reverence grows for His majestic awesomeness. The wise men fell down and worshipped. What a great example to me.
For today: May I have such a sense of awe at His glorious majesty!
