“And lo a voice from Heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).
Yesterday we read of the visit of the wise men when Jesus was a very young child. Today we read of the event thirty years later which began Christ’s public ministry. At His baptism by John the Baptist, the awesome voice of God came from Heaven declaring that the Father was “well pleased” with the Son. These two words “well” and “pleased” are actually just one word eudokeo which gives the idea of the Father taking great pleasure with every single thing about His Son the Lord Jesus. As I glance back over the last year, I want to testify that I am grateful that Karen and I belong to our precious Savior. I may not be pleased about some of the situations of our lives, but let me quickly say that the Father is well pleased with His Son, and Karen and I are as well. Today, whatever you face, whatever you experience, wherever you are, you can trust the amazing Lord Jesus. He is indeed “well pleasing.”
For today: What an awesome Savior to whom we belong.
