“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new” (Revelation 21: 4-5).
Some of the folks who subscribe to “Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescriptions” are from the Western New York area. They would know the little man of whom I write today. Thirty-three years ago our little Jeffrey was born. I walked across the yard from the Saturday men’s prayer meeting to return to the parsonage where Karen was waiting for me with the announcement that I needed to call the doctor and we needed to head to the hospital. A few hours later a very special little boy came into the world, and our lives would never be the same. Jeff had complex congenital heart disease. Many surgeries would follow, and before his fifth birthday, Jeff would be Home with the Lord. That little fellow greatly impacted us all. What a great reminder that the day is rapidly approaching when we will gather with the Lord and the former things such as sorrow, pain, and death will be gone as the Lord wipes the tears from our eyes. What a great promise to conclude another year—God will wipe away our tears someday. What a great promise indeed.
For today: What wonderful comfort today and what wonderful assurance for the future. Our God is absolutely awesome.
