Yesterday we briefly spoke about peace. There will most certainly be peace on earth when the Lord Jesus sets up His Kingdom. He will rule in righteousness and glory. Think of what Isaiah said.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:6-7).
But what about right now? What about today?
For those who know Christ as Savior, the Lord Jesus makes this promise.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).
Think of Marvin. In a moment, his entire life changed dramatically. Before him were happy plans that day. Suddenly a massive health situation struck, and he was hospitalized for days. The medical team treated his physical situation, but they were baffled by the strange sense of peace Marvin genuinely possessed. Do you know what it was?
Marvin had peace with God because of his trust in the Lord Jesus.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
Marvin also had the peace of God because of his trust in the Lord Jesus.
Be careful for nothing” (literally this means do not worry or be anxious over anything) “but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
