Yesterday I shared with you how the verses from Psalm 12 just seemed to leap from the pages of my Bible as I was reading in the Old Testament. I know that I’ve read this many times before, but once again, it was fresh; it was moving. It seemed like it was written just for today. Think with me about several verses.
“The words of the LORD are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shall keep them, O LORD, Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted” (Psalm 12:6-8).
King David writes about the wicked who at times surrounded him. He is both broken-hearted and disgusted by the deliberate sin being committed by people who were not even trying to do it in secrecy. In fact, Psalm 12:6 actually is speaking about the wicked strutting around in their sinful arrogance, and evil of all things is being praised in the land.
That’s so relevant. Across America, every newscast reports on vile sinfulness, and some of the folks being interviewed look right into the camera and celebrate that which God calls wickedness. Won’t it be a grand day when our Lord Jesus rules and reigns on earth. His Kingdom will be amazing.
Until then there is good news. We have God’s Word that is pure. We have God’s promise to preserve us and protect us. What an exciting time in which to be alive and serve our great God.
