“I called upon the LORD in distress: the Lord answered me” (Psalm 118:5).

I have been sharing with you the terrifying incident of a busload of 5th and 6th graders crossing the Kirkwood Bridge in a blinding snowstorm only to have the windshield wiper quit working. It was so frightening. What a wonderful blessing to call upon the Lord and to have Him answer so quickly. After a minute or two of sitting stopped halfway across the Susquehanna River, the Lord intervened and the wiper came back on. In fact it continued working until I had each of my students safely returned to their school.  But I have also experienced situations that were terrifying to me that the Lord didn’t “turn the wiper back on immediately.” Do you know what I mean? There have been times that the answer didn’t seem to come. Either God was silent or the answer was no. You have experienced that as well, haven’t you? In those times we can still trust Him completely. These aren’t mere hypothetical words to me, dear friends. Even if the answer doesn’t seem to come, or even if the answer is no, our awesome God is fully trustworthy and worthy of our devotion and worship. When you can’t understand what He is doing, remember Who He is and trust His Father’s heart.

For today: Thank you for the many answers you have sent our way. Lord, help us to trust You today.
