“Hear the Word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd does his flock” (Jeremiah 31:10).
You might remember from yesterday that Patty and her mom Barbara were sitting in a doctor’s office awaiting their turn to see their primary care physician. Another couple sat across from them. One of these folks spoke very wickedly about the Jewish people, blaming them for all the tensions in the Middle East. In fact, one of the persons actually said that someone ought to get rid of all those Jews, stating that Israel is not their rightful home. Patty couldn’t take it any longer and interrupted the conversation. Tactfully she said, “Excuse me. I know that I am not part of your conversation, but I couldn’t help but overhear what you said about the Jewish people. I just want you to know that they are indeed God’s chosen people. While they are not perfect and certainly have made mistakes, Israel is their land absolutely. God promised that those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those that curse Israel will be cursed according to Genesis 12. That promise is still in effect, and I would hate for you to come under God’s curse for the way you are cursing them.” Just then the nurse came to the door, and Patty and her mom were taken back. “Wow! I am proud of you, Honey,” Barb told her daughter. “I’m glad they’re not taking my blood pressure today” Patty responded with a smile. How about you? Do you pray for Israel and long to see her blessed? God isn’t finished with His chosen people. A great day is coming eventually.
For today: I want to bless Israel and be blessed by the Lord. How about you?
