“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee” (Isaiah 26:3).
After the service, Pastor Kenward was shaking hands and greeting the church family. Looking across the foyer he saw a dear dad and his young son coming in his direction. Holding his dad’s hand, six-year-old Samuel indeed was coming to the pastor. Bright for his age, young Samuel told the Pastor, “I didn’t think church would ever end so I could ask you my question!” An embarrassed dad quickly added, “I don’t think he meant that church was too long, Pastor. But he does have a question that he wants to ask you before JOY Club next Wednesday. He is memorizing Isaiah 26:3, and he wanted to ask you something. Go ahead, Sammy.” Immediately, without any hesitation, Sammy looked up at the pastor and asked, “Have you ever been ‘stayed’? The Bible says that we need to be ‘stayed.’ But I don’t know if I have been yet or not.” Pastor Kenward knelt down on one knee and had a precious conversation with young Samuel. He said, “Well Sam, let me tell you, yes, I have been ‘stayed on the Lord.’ Now let me explain what this means. Let’s see…Sammy, it’s like this…” More about this tomorrow. But for today, have you been ‘stayed on the Lord’? Do you have His perfect peace? Tomorrow!
For today: Lord, help us to be “stayed” on You. Oh, how much we need You.
