“And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him” (1 Kings 18:30, 33).
What a testimony of wickedness. Ahab, the seventh king of the Northern Kingdom (Israel) had the distinction of being the worst yet. In fact, the Scriptures indicate that he did more to provoke the Lord to anger than any of the kings of Israel before him. Perhaps you’ve met some people who are wicked and living a lifestyle that is heartbreaking. Sin really is a terrible thing. I have to warn you about something. Don’t be surprised that just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, it does! The good news is that you can keep your focus on the Lord. He knows how to handle wicked situations and people. I’m so glad that I belong to Him. He is righteous. He is sovereign.
For today: In an increasingly wicked society, I am rejoicing in my wonderful Lord. How about you?
