“My soul waits for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning” (Psalm 130:6).
The Psalmist speaks of his desire and yearning for the Lord Himself and His answer to prayer.
He speaks of crying out of the depths to the Lord (130:1).
He speaks about waiting for the Lord (130:5).
Can’t you picture the inward yearning for the Lord by one who works through the night and longs for morning to come so that he may be off duty? Or the picture of those who sit up all night with a sick child and long for the morning light to dawn? King David compares it to the temple priest and Levite who serve through the night watches and long for the morning light to break.
What situation are you in right now in which you are waiting on the Lord? Does it feel like a night watch? Take heart. Morning is coming.
Here’s what I am thinking of today. I want to wait graciously, quietly, and in full assurance that my Lord knows the way through the wilderness; all I have to do is follow. (Now that chorus will go around and around in your head today! You’re welcome!!!)
