Yesterday we had a few thoughts about the one who was up in the night anticipating and longing for the dawn. Here’s another thought about nighttime duty from the Scriptures.
“Behold, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD” (Psalm 134:1).
The ministry of the Old Testament tabernacle and temple was never without servants on duty. Throughout the night various servants were to be on duty to worship the Lord, sing His praise, guard the place of worship, and carry out the ministry (1 Chronicles 9:33). Here’s a great lesson for us. Are you awake in the night? Make good use of it. Some of the sweetest times of prayer, fellowship, and worship I have ever experienced have taken place in the middle of the night. His praise and worship are not a 9-to-5 ministry.
For today: I want to acknowledge my great and awesome Lord in the daytime or even in the darkness. He is the LORD! And with that, we close another month of Dr. Mike’s Daily Prescriptions. Here comes the month of March!
