It has been four years since I wrote a Daily Prescription for February 29th. I looked back at what I wrote for February 29th, 2020. After reading it over, I decided to share it with you today. So come with me, back four years ago today. Thanks for stopping by.
“So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me” (Hebrews 13:6).
At a pastors’ conference a well-seasoned, highly regarded pastor was speaking to a group of younger pastors about Godly boldness, trusting the Lord to their personal Helper, and not allowing fear to paralyze them. At the conclusion of the workshop a young pastor asked, “Pastor Kenward, many of us know that you have served even during the most difficult times in your life. What are a couple of things you can share with us that we can incorporate in our service especially for the hard days?” The older pastor quietly said, “It’s all about the Lord, but here are five things I seek to keep before myself all the time. Let me list them for you:
1. God is good all the time (Nahum 1:7).
2. God sees well beyond my present moment and trial (John 13:7).
3. God cares deeply about me personally (1 Peter 5:7).
4. God expects me to trust Him and obey His Word (Psalm 9:10).
5. God is God and I am not (John 13:13).
It was a powerful moment in the workshop.
For today: You don’t have to be a pastor. These are the exact same ways that the Lord wants to help you today.
