“Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30).
I am in a new era of my life. Sometimes I can’t remember very well the things that happened recently. However, I can remember things that happened well over fifty years ago. One of the things I vividly remember is watching my dear mother can tomatoes. Up from the canister of boiling water Mom would lift the hot quarts of tomatoes. On a towel covering a metal rack she would then place the very hot glass jars. In just a little while, a strange popping sound would indicate that the tomatoes had sealed. They were preserved for the months to come. We’d enjoy them when the harsh Western New York winters struck. It reminds me of the word “sealed” in our text for today. The sealing of the Holy Spirit guarantees our eternal security. We belong to the Lord and are permanently secure. We will be present with the Lord forever. This is the guarantee of the sealing. What a tremendous blessing. Tomorrow I will share with you the tremendous reminder from this verse as well.
For today: If you know Christ as your Savior, you are sealed! What a tremendous blessing indeed!
