“Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30).
Yesterday we thought of the beautiful blessing of being sealed by the Holy Spirit. It is a tremendous blessing and brings tremendous joy to remember that we are indeed sealed by the Holy Spirit. There is another aspect that is equally important. This is found in the first part of the verse where we are challenged and commanded not to grieve the Holy Spirit. I have known times of grief in my life. Grief is the profound sorrow and sadness that comes from loss or hurt. I am truly challenged to remember that God the Holy Spirit can be hurt, offended, and caused to experience grief. I can do that to Him. Daily I need to remember that my actions and attitudes can be a blessing to the Lord or they can hurt Him. May the Lord help us daily to keep this truth before our eyes.
For today: Stop and think! Will this action bless the Lord or cause Him to grieve?
PS Yes! You are right. I accidentally duplicated the last two Daily Prescriptions! Now we’re back on the right track again. Thanks!
